Playing with the Pentapus

Todays entry finds Cole playing in his baby gym. By Ann's eye, Cole seems to be poking at and playing with the toys hanging above him. To me, he seems more interested in pulling and sucking on his onesie. As usual, you, the impartial observer will have to decide for yourself.

Life in the Kellobowitz household continues to be interesting. Just as Ann and I decided that things have been settling into something of a routine, and that living as a family was getting easier, Cole decided that he needs to have a meal just about every hour — particularly at night. This has taken a toll on both of us, though much more so on Ann. What could be going on? Growth spurt? Bad parenting? Practical joking?

As usual, the parenting books, apparently written by sadists, are of no use whatsoever, offering nothing but conflicting advice. These books aren't even consistent with themselves, much else each other.

Nevertheless, we always have time for a couple of family portraits, though sadly, it does not look like the three of us will be appearing all together any time soon:

Finally, a note for the computer geeks in the crowd. I've re-written the family photo gallery browser to be a little easier to navigate and a little slicker to use. Right now there are no new pics, but I'm sure to upload a bunch as soon as something interesting happens. In the meantime, check out the photos that are already up.

Note: There is a bug in MS Internet Explorer 6 that causes the thumbnail scrollbar in the photo viewer not to work correctly. My code is fine, but MSIE6 broken. I recommend upgrading to Internet Explorer 7, or Firefox, or Opera, or Safari, or just about any other browser in Earth.

(Let's not even talk about why mommy is enjoying this so much.)

Grandparental Visit No. 2

Cole's grandparents Myron and Reina made the trip out to visit us this past weekend. Well, we could pretend that they came to visit "us," but in reality we know who they were after. Everyone seemed to have a good time, us included.

Mugging for the Camera

Cole's been posing for a pictures a lot lately. It's not like he has much say in the matter, but it appears as if he is getting used to it, and perhaps even learning to "work it" a little for his papparazzi parents. I wonder, though, if what he really wants to do is direct.

Saturday Afternoon with Daddy

I took Cole for a walk this afternoon in order to get some solid 1:1 time with my boy and also to provide Ann with a little downtime. (It also afforded me an opportunity to test a new camera lens.)

As usual, Cole is sporting something new. This time, it's his new sailor sun hat:

Our walk was a rather long one that took us to the farmer's market, up around the UCB campus, and back down home by way of Bancroft and the local Carvel franchise. It was so tiring, that Cole had to take a nap in a glade along the way.

Here's a link to a few more shots, including some tummy-time play with "Auntie" Heather.

Now we're back home and ready for a snack...

I Can Lift My Head Up!

Cole continues to astound us with feats of skill and strength, all the while maintaining an insanely high degree of cuteness. Here he is showing us how strong his neck muscles have become during tummy time:

Of course, in addition to the head holding, which is hard work, (see, no smiles during this maneuver) Cole also continues to refine his smiling and giggling skills, as one can see below:
